Untitled[edit]

I have rewritten the "Location and description" section of the article, as the version it replaces was contradictory and confusing (to my mind). Please check that you agree with what I have said about the boundaries of the Highveld (as I understand them to be), as well as the overall description of the Highveld terrain. I am sure it can be improved further. Jkoeslag (talk) 05:05, 30 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Suggested addition to map[edit]

Would it be possible to draw in the Great Escarpment to the east of the Highveld on the excellent map that accompanies this article? After all, it was probably the early explorers, adventurers, traders and fortune seekers, traveling inland from Maputo to the Witwatersrand who had to climb the Great Escarpment from the "Lowveld" (now mostly Kruger National Park) up on to the "Highveld" at the top of the escarpment, who almost certainly coined the terms Low- and High-veld. The Dictionary of South African English (Oxford University Press, Cape Town, 1991) defines the "Highveld" as being restricted to "the high-lying regions of the Transvaal", with a quotation from H.C. Bosman (1977) saying that "Kleinberg was not very far from Willemsdorp in terms of miles. But Willemsdorp was highveld. It stood on the edge of the Great Plateau." Have made the additions to the map as suggested above, and revised the text of the "Location and description" section (with references) to hopefully make everything clearer, and, more importantly, geographically accurate. Oggmus (talk) 13:19, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
