Destruction of this archive[edit]

I withdraw my previous comments. Budhen (talk) 11:56, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sandy Skelton, Brisbane Australia writes as follows ......... Latest Developments I have heard at the RMAA's (Records Management Association of Australasia) 2010 convention, Gold Coast, Australia in September, is as follows:

65,000 Records went down in the collapse It will take 30 years to restore the records with the resourcing available 5% of all holdings are permanently lost (over 3,000 records) 3 Million units have so far been salvaged but this does not mean they can be saved

Biggest losses are academic research, sound recordings, charters, photographs, manuscripts, bequests and architectural models. Nobel peace prize documents also damaged by water.

Records salvaged from the debris, are expected to be complete by 30 September 2010 - 1.5 years after initial collapse. Then the restoration can continue from there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.49.139.142 (talk) 01:35, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Update required[edit]

This article is looking seriously out of date in terms of the rescue/conservation work on the holdings and reopening of the archive. If anyone could update it a bit from the German article it would be appreciated. GrindtXX (talk) 22:23, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Done, could anybody with an english mother tongue check the text? --elya (talk) 16:07, 20 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

alcalic cement[edit]

Just a small point ... I was curious to know what "alcalic cement" is (mentioned in the "After the collapse" section), but I can't find any information anywhere. I suspect it may be a typo or mistranslation, but I'm not sure what for. It sounds a bit like "alkali" or something, but I would only be guessing. 86.160.216.41 (talk) 04:22, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm...I thought I'd do a quick change to "alkali" or "alkaline" as you suggested, but that's not what the citation is about at all -- it's about the cost, which isn't mentioned in the article. So I kept the ref but changed the sentence completely to match what third-party RSes are emphasizing. Thanks anon. IP! -- Michael Scott Cuthbert (talk) 16:19, 3 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
