User:86.132.175.186 added the following observation in revision
"HET is widely believed to be another attempt by the British Government controlled PSNI to coverup British State killings of citizens throughout the recent conflict."
I've rewritten parts of the paragraph to keep the thought, but make the language more factual, less opinion.
It's still opinion - do we have a ref that people are making these claims?13:14, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Unsolved murders?

[edit]

Is there really 3,269 unsolved murders? This would appear to be at variance with figures compiled by Conflict Archive on the Internet which show that between 1969 and 2001 the number of people killed in The Troubles was 3,526. 80.176.88.21 (talk) 22:24, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The HET supposedly covers 1969 until 1998 so there are going to be a few missing people. Also take into account your first figure is for unsolved murders, maybe the higher figure at CAIN includes solved murders. Very late reponse, but may as well provide one. IRA blameless?

[edit]

Article lists a variety of instances where the HET's findings incriminated the British Army or "loyalists". Nothing about any IRA killings? I could add the HET's findings that the Kingsmill "murders were carried out by the Provisional IRA and none other" just to take one example but if editors are going to be selective about what to include it seems to me that the more appropriate solution is to eliminate this whole "Cases" section. Pending some sort of corrective I've added a POV tag.--Brian Dell (talk) 06:17, 25 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Quite agree - this section should be deleted or made NPOV. --Flexdream (talk) 22:19, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I removed it for the time being. It can be easily reverted which i will have problems with, just as long as it stirs someone into neutralising the section, something i don't have time to do at the moment. Mabuska (talk) 22:29, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
