Talk:Brighton-le-Sands, NSW: a history

The title of this site has been changed. That is fine. But expect changes as a consequence. The title should reflect the contents of the page. The suburb was named Brighton-Le -Sands in 1970 and so should reflect the history of the subsequent 35+ years. I have removed my work on Brighton-le-Sands, the suburb name prior to 1970. There are better places for it. For anyone who wants to read the article before the name change use one of the historical sites such as 27 April 2007. No one has my permission to restore what I have researched and had put on the site and have now removed. This article revives memories of a suburb (and State) I left nearly fifty years ago. I can remember much of what is written in the text for the era I was there. I have Box Brownie photos of the old trams and their shed in the tram paddock. I nearly drowned in the swimming baths and still have remnant problems as a result. The school was H- or U-shaped: a boys' wing to the south, a girls' wing to the north and a common-use hall joining the two wings. The Pacific Hospital was an imposing structure [to a child, at least], cement-rendered and a light yellowish colour. A relative was born in the Pacific Hospital when it was in Queen's Road, according to her birth certificate.Whipstick (talk) 11:16, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
