Should this page exist?

[edit]

It seems this page was created by copying a block of content from History of the Orthodox Church about four years ago. However, that content also remained on that page, and has been edited since then. This page has been edited considerably less (in fact, this page has been edited very little; there were only 3 edits in the whole year of 2012, for example). So, right now, this page is little more than a four-year-old version of some content from History of the Orthodox Church. I understand the reason why this page was initially created - because History of the Orthodox Church is very long - but the net result has been to establish an obscure content fork for a subtopic of a subtopic. Not only that, but a lot of the content in here isn't even about the 20th century, since the original article was not written in strictly chronological order (for instance, the content on the national churches covers several centuries). So, overall, I think the best thing to do right now would be to redirect this to History of the Orthodox Church. If we really believe that article is too long, then we should split it into several articles in a more coherent and organized way (although I do not personally believe it is too long). Since no one has commented for three months (and the article itself has not been edited since April), I am going to be bold and redirect this article back to History of the Orthodox Church, which includes all of the content found here and is edited much more regularly. Should anyone disagree and wish to restore this article, I would strongly recommend recreating it by moving current text from History of the Orthodox Church instead of reverting my edit. Such an action should ideally be part of a wider project of splitting up the current History of the Orthodox Church article into several different articles, by historical period. I am not doing this myself because I don't believe it's necessary, but if someone else wishes to do it, I would not be opposed. Ohff (talk) 06:52, 21 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
