Seriously

It's not necessary to update this every time United lose or win a game. Look at the previous sections, they show how this should be done. The style of the current section is confusing, drawn out and not an overview at all. Look:

"Having played 32 of 38 matches, Manchester United lead the Premier League by 3 points over Chelsea, champions for the past two years. The team's style of play is reminiscent of that which typified the team in previous glory years. One major improvement is the partnership of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic in central defence. Further, Paul Scholes has rediscovered his past form, while Cristiano Ronaldo has managed to deal extremely successfully with wide criticism of him and his involvement in the 2006 World Cup; he even managed to win a £400 bet with Sir Alex Ferguson, as he scored 15 goals in the season."

and then just a bit later, in the same section:

"After 32 league matches, United are still leading the table by 3 points from Chelsea despite a laboured 2-1 defeat at the hands of Portsmouth on April 7th. The treble hopes are still alive as they've made it to the semi-finals of the FA Cup in which they'll play Watford and the Quarter Finals of the UEFA Champions League against AS Roma. However, in recent months United have suffered from a growing injury crisis; Gary Neville, Louis Saha, Nemanja Vidić, Mikael Silvestre and Park Ji-Sung have all been sidelined; Vidic, Neville, Silvestre and Park are still sidelined. Although, this did not stop United by having two consecutive 4-1's in a row against Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers respectively, with Park Ji-Sung scoring in both games."

If this article was supposed to be a running commentary of every single injury and event, imagine how long the other sections would be.

Time to make new article?

1999 to 2007. A lot has changed since then. You could argue that the 2006/07 season deserves a new article of its own. The 2007 side is completely different from that of 99/00 team. - Tocino 6 May 2007

I disagree. To create a new article now would smack of recentism, especially since the other "History of Manchester United F.C." articles cover periods of 67 years, 24 years, 17 years and 12 years respectively. Personally, I think that we should combine the 1986-1998, 1998-1999 and 1999-present articles into a single article covering Alex Ferguson's time at the club. Then, when Fergie retires, we can start a new article. This may not be a feasible option, but creating a new article at this time would not be appropriate either. – PeeJay 12:53, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Ferdinand

History section

The players who were at the club at the end of the treble season have been mentioned, as well as those who have replaced them and those who have come and gone in the time since. Rewrite

This article needs a major rewrite. It gets way too specific about each individual season from 2004 onwards. I'm not certain how to divide it up, although 1999–2003, 2003–2006 and 2006–present sections would seem like a good idea, as we could cover league success since 1999 (bar the 2001–02 season, which we need never speak of again) in the first section, success in the FA Cup and League Cup in the second section, and the return to league success in the third section. Obviously there isn't much in the way of content, since it's only been nine years since the Treble, but since this is a "to present" article, there's always room for expansion. Of course, the other alternative is to merge this article with History of Manchester United F.C. (1986–1998) and then we would have a much broader range of content to cover. This would, however, mean that the article could end up getting rather large. Opinions, please? – PeeJay 16:22, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

1986 to present should be one article. I'd recommend, at least, five main sections divided up by the three teams which Ferguson has gotten together and the rebuilding phases between these teams.

In that case, I'm thinking 1986–1990 (appointment to 1990 FA Cup), 1990–1994 (build-up to the club's first Double), 1994–1998 (the second Double and the seasons building up to the Treble), 1998–2001 (the Treble and the three consecutive titles), 2001–2006 (league in 2003, cup titles in 2004 and 2006) and 2006–present (return to success). Why have we suddenly decided to cut off this article at 2013? It's not like David Moyes' tenure has really got going yet. I mean, what are we going to put in the History of Manchester United F.C.
