[edit]

God, I hate articles like this that are someone's cut-and-paste of book lists. It's not as bad as most, but it very obviously doesn't include most of the information in its alleged sources. For expansion of the colonial period history, one place to start is

  • Chisholm, Hugh, ed. (1911). "Senegal (colony)" . Encyclopædia Britannica (11th ed.). Cambridge University Press.

or the linked page scans. See also the related articles like "Senegal (river)" and "Guinea". — LlywelynII 00:57, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Tip for disappointed readers of this article...

[edit]

Until the English article improves, if you have a browser that offers to translate pages for you (Google Chrome does this) you may care to visit the French Wikipedia article and read the translation. It has a fair bit more info than we do here (Senegal was a French colony after all). It also has a small amount of info from more recent years than us. It's funny, I read through this English one and found the language a bit odd in parts. Afterwards, I went to the French one and hit translate and found many of the sentences I struggled with on this article replicated exactly! So it's pretty clear what an enterprising individual had previously got up to. (You may not see that yourself, since I edited a lot of this version's translation-based weirdness out). --bodnotbod (talk) 11:33, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
