More history needed on the formation of the USAF[edit]

The article currently has only 3 sentences that touch on the creation of the USAF and the ending of the USAAF. Surely this was a giant political battle with significant downsides as well as the upsides, and this would be a good area to expand the article; this topic merits its own section in the article. Title[edit]

I think the name of this article is incorrect. Of course everything in history has precursors, but a "History of the USAF" should only point to the year 1940 or so. I propose to rename the article to History of military aviation of the United States or something similar. --Smug Irony (talk) 09:48, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

History of the Swiss Air Force[edit]

Hello, I am just prowling around in order to bait any people who would be interested in improving History of the Swiss Air Force (especially the new sections on World War II and the Cold War) factual und linguistic errors :-) Just message me if you have questions!--Keimzelle (talk) 16:42, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Billy Mitchell[edit]

This seems oddly editorialized to me:

He received the highly publicized court martial he wanted, and was allowed to expound his theory that air power alone would suffice to win the next big war. He was convicted, and resigned.

Is there a source that confirms Mitchell actually desired to be court-marshaled? Walkersam (talk) 20:31, 4 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
