Summary of revisions planned for HFJ page

250 Words, Summary + outline--Theredproject (talk) 18:53, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The stub for Hoefler and Frere-Jones I intend to organize what’s already on the page and also reorder what on the stub as a mini bio for both Hoefler and Frere-Jones. For Hoefler and Frere-Jones I intend to create areas for them and a better bio for them. Such as in education, childhood, work and even how they were as teens to present. Also gather information about a timeline of Hoefler and Frere-Jones. However, also include interviews they did and their words they first created to their present work. If possible add photos of them and also their works and a gallery of different sub-areas. I also intend to use Steven Heller, "Jonathan Hoefler, on Type Design", interview to help explain parts of how Hoefler and Frere-Jones met. I plan on also with drawing more information on seeing how and when they started their work. In addition I intend on pulling information from their past interviews, where they worked and so forth to create a long enough page that could explain and help give a better understand of Hoefler and Frere-Jones to everyone. For instances create a gallery of Hoefler and Frere-Jones, and their pieces of work over the years starting with the very first piece of typography to their current piece of work they do. In addition I plan on putting in their current information if they are reachable. Mostly add information and attempt to make Hoefler & Frere-Jones well known along with their works. --CCCSSAA7 (talk) 23:34, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review

[edit]

I see a lot of the article is quotations and websites. Maybe a little more information regarding their pasts and recent works in your own words would be helpful and get you closer to creating more of the article. It also seems as though the article is not broken up very much in categories. Most of the information is listed in one area, then broken into one other list with only links. Possibly expanding and creating more break ups in content could be helpful. Hope this helps! Ellebrager (talk) 06:02, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Co

[edit]

Is the new name really Co, not Company nor even Co.? Is there a partner named Co? —Tamfang (talk) 00:36, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, the press release says "Whether as The Hoefler Type Foundry, Hoefler & Frere-Jones, or Hoefler & Co., our company has...."
So the new name does have a dot. —Tamfang (talk) 00:38, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for pointing this out, I added the missing dot to the name. —Fitoschido [shouttrack] @ 27 January, 2014; 11:23

Frere-Jones Title and Position

[edit]

Hi there, I came to this wiki entry looking for information about the lawsuit between Frere-Jones and Hoefler. Wikipedia usually has pretty good up-to-the-minute news! I'm curious about the choice of calling Frere-Jones "former staff member Tobias Frere-Jones". It seems like the title is taking a pretty strong point-of-view on whether the lawsuit is valid or not. Perhaps leaving off the title would and just saying "On January 16, 2014, type designer Tobias Frere-Jones filed a lawsuit in New York state alleging that he was entitled to own half of the type foundry, based on an oral agreement made in 1999 by which Frere-Jones transferred ownership of his fonts to the company for 10 USD and the company was renamed Hoefler & Frere-Jones. Jones claimed the oral agreement made the company an equal partnership while Hoefler claims that Frere-Jones was a staff member."

Good phrasing: I'll put that in. Thanks a lot. For the record, I hoped that 'staff member' didn't take a side as to whether he was a partner or not, but OK. Blythwood (talk) 17:51, 28 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Have thought about how to word an update and have added it to the article now. I haven't made major changes to the text though. Blythwood (talk) 03:02, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that article was excellent. Well researched and interviewed the right people. I'd added it to the Monotype article but not on here, so I've added it now. Blythwood (talk) 07:43, 30 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
