Proposed merge with Drinking culture of Korea
[edit]strong overlap between the two, possibly synonyms pseudonym Jake Brockman talk 10:52, 24 June 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose They aren't synonyms. A hoesik can be a lunch or dinner, with or without alcoholic drinks. However, some content in the Hoesik article might be better located at Drinking culture of Korea. --Herbeater (talk) 16:15, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- Well, I know the roots of Hoesik as work lunch/dinner for communal spirit in a company, etc. However this article focuses very strongly on the drinking culture, which is mostly covered in the other article. Even the article on Korean cuisine refers details about etiquette and dining to the article about drinking culture. Also, even the Hoesik article states that "there is no such thing as a non-drinking Hoesik". Those articles confirm the strong interconnectedness between Hoesik and drinking: 1, 2, 3. All the issues, such as health problems, sexual assault, rowdiness etc are all primarily related to alcohol. If I cut this out as it really duplicates what is already there, it's an article about "staff lunch" which in itself is not very informative. The salvaged rest may be placed to Korean dining - again, given this article is interconnected with drinking culture.pseudonym Jake Brockman talk 17:40, 27 June 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose I suggest merging (moving) the drinking-related content to Drinking culture of Korea but save the article Hoesik. --Maumivi (talk) 13:34, 18 September 2018 (UTC)
