Naming? Holburne Museum of Art, The Holburne or what?[edit]

Using their own website for guidance, I can't find sourcing for the name of the museum as the "Holburne Museum of Art". Is a rename in order? Andy Dingley (talk) 21:15, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I believe the name has changed several times over the years. The Art Fund uses Holburne Museum of Art, The charity Commission just uses The Holburne Museum, English Heritage uses Holburne of Menstrie Museum [formerly listed as Holbourne Museum (formerly Sydney Hotel). iKnow Somerset uses The Holburne Museum of Art as does Culture 24 and About Britain. The BBC uses "The Holburne Museum of Art" in the text of a piece entitled The Holburne Museum hands out Portrait Prize commission. As you say the museums own web site uses The Holburne Museum so I'm not sure there is a consistent or "common usage" answer to this question. I suppose it could be moved or we could just set up a redirect at Holburne Museum to this current article.— Rod talk 21:34, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The museum website uses "The Holburne Museum", but if you look at the latest Financial Report and Accounts[1] there it uses "The Holburne Museum of Art", which I think must be normal official name - so our current name seems OK. Though in full legalese(!) it seems a tad more complex:
The Holburne Museum of Art ('The Museum') is the Museum of the University of Bath, and is an independent institution with registered charitable status, established by Deed of Trust in 1883. The sole Trustee, by whom the Trust is administered, is the Holburne Museum Trust Company ('The Company'), a company limited by guarantee.

Thanks. I've created the redir, as there were already a few articles using it. Andy Dingley (talk) 02:14, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
