I suggest removing the second paragraph of the summary. Given that Smuts coined the term 'holism,' how could it be viewed as part of a broader trend? The reference to Smuts' earlier book on Walt Whitman is inconsequential, and the book does not refer to a process-orientated, hierarchical view of nature. Holism and Evolution is a book on philosophy. It is inappropriate to link it to his political views, especially without reference and certainly not in the introductory summary.
