Is Holliswood distinct from Hollis?[edit]

(copied from talk:Holliswood, Queens)

@AngusWOOF, I've looked into this and it does appear that Holliswood is just north of Hollis. I see that on this map and it matches the borders listed here. So I would agree this should not redirect to Hollis. Do you know any more? MB 02:16, 23 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Several websites and city charts say it's a neighborhood of Holllis:

@AngusWOOF, there is no doubt that Holliswood can be distinguished from Hollis. Those links all seem to confirm that Holliswood is north of Hillside Avenue (that is right in the first source you listed, which matches the NYC website I linked above). Now if you look at the borders of Hollis, our own article says it is entirely south of Hillside Avenue right in the lead, and the infobox has a map with the boundaries that confirm that. It certainly seems that Holliswood is actually outside of Hollis, even if is sometimes characterized as being within Hollis. If you look at the sources in the Hollis article, several link to maps that show Hollis is in Queens community district 12 which stops at Hillside Avenue, this puts Holliswood farther north in district 8.
