Invalid dab page[edit]

@Francis Schonken: I would argue that Holy Valley is a WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT to Kadisha Valley; therefore, if there were a dab page, it should be at Holy Valley (disambiguation).

However, there are multiple reasons this is an invalid dab page:

  1. The meaning of the ambiguous term is not what dab pages are for, so listing synonyms doesn’t address the [supposed] ambiguity of the term “Holy Valley”.
  2. The actual phrase “Holy Valley” must already be in the article linked. Translations of names in other languages into English, when that is not in the article, should not substitute for the actual phrase.
  3. Dab pages should list different kinds of items with the same name. You seem to be listing “items of a specific type” (valleys) “that share the same (or similar) name” (synonyms of “Holy Valley”). That is the very definition of a set index article, and SIAs are not dab pages.

If you insist on making this a dab page, at least go the prescribed route and start a move discussion to get consensus. Meanwhile, I will change it back to the redirect so as to address all these incoming links. — Gorthian (talk) 22:13, 18 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Francis Schonken: Are you able to discuss this, or are you dedicated to reverting edits? — Gorthian (talk) 06:10, 19 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for discontinuing your reverts. On content: synonyms can of course be disambiguated. --Francis Schonken (talk) 06:13, 19 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Dab pages are not articles; they are meant as navigation guides. So if someone puts “Holy Valley” into the search box and ends up on a dab page, they should see only links to articles with their search term on that page, not synonyms for that term.
In this case, I think that the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for “Holy Valley” is probably the Kadisha Valley. Then the dab page (if there needs to be one) would be at Holy Valley (disambiguation).
It is very late for me, so I must leave off here until tomorrow. I hope you will consider what I’ve said. — Gorthian (talk) 06:36, 19 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, yes, those incoming links. Dab pages should have no incoming links, so would you please follow up and fix all the incoming links? (DisamAssist, Dabfix and Dabsolver are helpful.) Thanks. — Gorthian (talk) 06:38, 19 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Well, again, synonyms need to be disambiguated – of course, "as navigation guide" (what else?) --Francis Schonken (talk) 06:44, 19 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
