Article title[edit]

I believe this article should be moved to Homegrown Player as that is the spelling used in most MLS literature on the subject including the roster rules. DemonJuice (talk) 20:31, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Moved to "Homegrown Player Rule (Major League Soccer). This (1) corrects the spelling, (2) keeps it consistent with the Designated Player Rule page, and (3) makes sure there's no confusion with the similarly named Premier League Home Grown Player rule. Should there be a section "Signings by year"?[edit]

Records Section Expansion[edit]

The record section currently has most goals for each season. There is also a random fact about DeAndre Yedlin in the article introduction. First I think it would make sense to move the DeAndre Yedlin fact over to the records section and then maybe also expand the section to include record transfer fees and other such facts.

Full Club Name[edit]

Is there a consensus anywhere about MLS teams needing the full club name every time it's listed? Why is "Inter Miami CF" needed, but not "CD Águila", "KAS Eupen", or "Queens Park Rangers FC"? It just feels like extra clutter in the tables. User:SounderBruce

@Nobreadsticks: There have been several discussions at WT:FOOTY about how to handle American club names, and the general consensus so far has been to include prefixes and suffixes for consistency. It looks odd if "Toronto FC" and "Vancouver Whitecaps (no FC)" are placed together, after all. SounderBruce 05:18, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
