Renaming article
[edit]Hi. I would like for the article to be renamed from "Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR" to "Honored Artist of the RSFSR", because in the original language the latter is the most correct translation. Though unfortunately, there already exists an article which uses Honored Artist of the RSFSR, but it's a different medal. Just wanted to say that I think "Honored Artist of the RSFSR" is the most fitting translation of the article. Petrandreev13 (talk) 22:30, 5 February 2022 (UTC)
- Petrandreev13, I saw your Helpdesk post and wonder whether Honored Artist of the RSFSR should be a WP:Disambiguation page and this page (Russian: Заслуженный артист РСФСР, Zasluzhenny artist RSFSR) should be at Honored Artist of the RSFSR (performing arts) to distinguish it from Honored Artist of the RSFSR (visual arts) (Russian:Заслуженный художник РСФСР, Zasluzhennyy khudozhnik RSFSR)? What do you think? According to the Merited Artist of the Russian Federation article honored or merited artist "is confusingly used to translate two different Russian language titles: "заслуженный артист" (literally Merited Artist, but better rendered as Merited Actor, Merited Dancer, etc., awarded in performing arts) and "заслуженный художник" (awarded in some visual arts: painting drawing, and photography). Both titles are awarded for exceptional achievements in the corresponding arts." TSventon (talk) 18:21, 16 November 2022 (UTC)
- I think it should stay the way it is, without any more changes. Petrandreev13 (talk) 19:36, 16 November 2022 (UTC)
- Petrandreev13, can you explain why you think this article should be at Honored Artist of the RSFSR? "Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR" is the English translation of both Russian titles. TSventon (talk) 19:48, 16 November 2022 (UTC)
- Because "Honored Art Worker" is Заслуженный деятель (Zasluzhenny deyatel), while "Honored Artist" is Заслуженный артист (Zasluzhenny artist). And "Художник" means not only artist, but also painter. Maybe the "Honored Artist of the RSFSR (visual arts)" be renamed to "Honored Painter of the RSFSR"?
- P.S. I don't want to deal with all this now, I'm already stressed out over me asking for a technical move of an article for the first time. Petrandreev13 (talk) 20:00, 16 November 2022 (UTC)
