Not sure why Pompano is being singled out, all the H.O.R. boats suffered.--172.191.204.106 (talk) 05:40, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is expanded at the Pompano article. Several reasons:
  • Sources. There are more sources describing Pompano than the others.
  • Primacy. Pompano was the first. Before Pompano, this problem wasn't anticipated
  • Effect. Pompano wasn't just "unreliable", it was laid up for months.
  • Design (and this is the crucial factor). Pompano had the 8 cylinder engine, the later engines were redesigned to have 9 cylinders, and thus different balance (which makes much more difference than is immediately obvious). Pompano had the worst of a bad engine.
