I believed it too D: StupidFrog 05:03, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
@StupidFrog & the others who believed this tale. I don't remember when or what publication I first read this in but I thought it was hilarious & 😀 told it to few people I knew. First, you should know that when I relate jokes, I make it into in a believable story, and it's like I threw a baited line out...2 of these friends top everyone else, they take the bait quickly & when the "story" is done, I get up & walk away, they then know they've been had...again! Anyway, I digress, I remember that National Geo fell for the story, found out it was joke & got hoppin' mad, made Discover, or whoever's it was, print an apology & retraction. No sense of humor there. Oh, but wait, not long after that I found out they were spreading mistruths of their own in their magazine. It seems that they, in support of Al Gore's movie, pictured a Polar Bear, lying on an ice float appearing to be dying & in fact stated that in the issue, alluding to the Bear starving to death. Come to find out, yes the Polar Bear was dying - but not due to anything about Climate change but rather it was due to the Bear's old age, (as per their own admission later on). It was due to these types of outright lies, both from people & publications, & oh, let's not forget when the MSM admitted that they were biased in their reporting about the O'bama's, esp Barack. That was when I became disillusioned to so many people & publications that I used to admire, as well as believe in. Now I'm skeptical🤔of so many things & people. I research extensively every single thing before as much as even mentioning it publically. I get challenges often, I simply say, "Google this..." & give them what to look under. I didn't do my research just to give it to them. I say, "Look it up on your own time." It made me smarter doing that. 🙂
p.s. Many have not, to this day, earned back my trust. 🙁 107.198.86.26 (talk) 08:58, 23 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
