Howard House Contemporary Art was established in 1997 as a grass-roots gallery by founder Billy Howard. The name comes from the fact that the project was started in the home of the founder in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. In 1999 Howard moved the gallery to Belltown where he continued to show cutting edge artist. In 2004 the most recent move to the Pioneer Square neighborhood gave the artists a grand showcase for painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, video, and other art forms as well as a project space that is used for introductory shows.
