Clarification re Engagement to Isabella of Angouleme[edit]
According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, Who's Who in Early Medieval England, and the Penguin Historical Atlas of the Medieval World, it was Hugh IX who was engaged to Isabella of Angouleme when she was persuaded to marry King John instead (Penguin says she was "abducted"). Also according to the Encyclopedia, Isabella married Hugh X (son of Hugh IX) after John's death.Beee3 (talk) 18:13, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
