GA Review

[edit]
This review is transcluded from Talk:Hughie Edwards/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.

Hi there, I am happy to tell you that this article has passed GA without the need for any further improvement. Listed below is information on how the article fared against the Wikipedia:good article criteria, with suggestions for future development. These are not required to achieve GA standard, but they might help in future A-class or FAC review process.

  • It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose): b (MoS):
Who is Thomas Dunhill? The way it is written the article assumes we should know who he is, but he isn't mentioned earlier and doesn't have his own wikipedia page. Was he actually somebody notable or simply a drunk who wondered in off the street?--Jackyd101 (talk) 22:11, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just a drunk off the street. I'll clarify this. Abraham, B.S. (talk) 23:52, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What is the "Australian Representative for Selection Trust"? Either explain it or link to it.--Jackyd101 (talk) 22:12, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
To tell you the truth I'm not exactly sure, but I'll have a look around and see if I can find out. Abraham, B.S. (talk) 23:52, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
Why is the Hoyle book listed as a reference if it isn't actually used? Secondly why wasn't it used? The sources in the article are good enough for GA, but to take it further this source and other, additional biographical information is probably essential.--Jackyd101 (talk) 22:12, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It is listed in the reference section as some one else had originally placed it in a bibliography section, and I did not remove it as I have just purchased a copy of the book off eBay and it should be arriving early this week. Abraham, B.S. (talk) 23:52, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
  • It follows the neutral point of view policy.
a (fair representation): b (all significant views):
  • It is stable.
  • It contains images, where possible, to illustrate the topic.
a (tagged and captioned): b (lack of images does not in itself exclude GA): c (non-free images have fair use rationales):
  • Overall:
    a Pass/Fail:

Thankyou and congratulations, an excellent addition to Wikipedia:Good Articles. All the best.--Jackyd101 (talk) 22:11, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another guy: Idwal H. Edwards

[edit]

In the list on page 123, there is a guy named Idwal H. Edwards who attended Air Corps Tactical School during the school year 1930–1931. I'm astonished that there could be two people with such an unusual name... could Edwards from Australia somehow have attended air training in the USA at the age of 16? It must be another guy... Binksternet (talk) 19:44, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Probably Lieutenant General Idwal H. Edwards http://www.af.mil/information/bios/bio.asp?bioID=5329 MilborneOne (talk) 20:01, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That has to be him! Thanks. Binksternet (talk) 21:40, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
