Jewish?

[edit]

I added the category Category:British people of Jewish descent to the article on the basis that Hugo Rifkind's father (Malcolm Rifkind) is Jewish. This was changed to Category:Scottish Jews shortly afterwards. Unless someone can provide a reliable source that states that Hugo Rifkind is Jewish, I submit that WP rules require that we go no further than stating that Hugo Rifkind is in the category of British people of Jewish descent. I do not intend to get drawn into a lengthly Who is a Jew? debate. Greenshed (talk) 17:05, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

His father is Jewish, his mother is Jewish, and there is no claim he ever converted. I'm not sure what source you require, so if you tell me, I'll try to quickly find one. DGtal (talk) 17:45, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Any reliable source that states that he is Jewish would be wholly acceptable. Greenshed (talk) 20:45, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Extract from a column he wrote: "I'm Jewish, I told her" ([1]). DGtal (talk) 07:49, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
All very well, but the bald statement "He is Jewish" as one of the first facts provided about this man reads distinctly strangely. It's almost as odd as saying about someone "He is not Jewish". The statement needs to be part of some passage where it's relevant, to prevent the current response of "So what?"GardenQuad (talk) 13:06, 25 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I agree it didn't sit naturally - the infobox seemed the obvious place for such a bald statement of fact, so I moved it there.86.23.23.244 (talk) 12:20, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bibliography

[edit]

I have commenced a tidy-up of the Bibliography section using cite templates. Capitalization and punctuation follow standard cataloguing rules in AACR2 and RDA, as much as Wikipedia templates allow it. ISBNs and other persistent identifiers, where available, are commented out, but still available for reference. This is a work in progress; feel free to continue.
