June 2014

[edit]

There's recently been heightened interest in the subject following reports by several international news organisations including the Guardian[1] and earlier by the BBC[2] (links copied from Talk:Charoen Pokphand).

Incidentally, I removed these links which didn't comply with WP:EL from the external links section. They could be used as sources on which to expand the article, though.

Proposed merge with Child kidnapping in Thailand

[edit]

Would be better to have a single comprehensive article providing proper context. Paul_012 (talk) 12:05, 24 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Improving the article

[edit]

Seems to be a lack of references in the article.

It appears to have been taken from this site http://gvnet.com/humantrafficking/Thailand.htm And in there some of the claims which require citations appear to have references. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.51.56.225 (talk) 11:12, 12 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Can you tell me how you know that the Wiki text was taken from this website and not the other way around? I agree that the article could be improved. And that is what we are trying to do. Seligne (talk) 13:55, 12 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It is a quote from U.S. State Dept Trafficking in Persons Report, June, 2009 http://www.state.gov/j/tip/rls/tiprpt/2009/123139.htm I'll put the link in. I'm editing this page because of a Youtube video was brought to my attention https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIK6qX9QuMk — Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.51.60.89 (talk) 00:48, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I feel you have watered down the quote by taking the specifics out of it. Statements always have more power when they contain details rather than generalities. In particular the 2015 report by the State Department has been criticised as being politically influenced to change ratings of countries http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-08-04/special-report-us-state-department-watered-down-human-traffic/6669838 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.51.51.204 (talk) 09:18, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I propose that the warning flags at the beginning of this article be removed. They seem no longer relevant. Seligne (talk) 11:48, 15 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
