flag soup

[edit]

I'm gonna be completely honest, in its current state its likely to get deleted later down the line. How should we convert this into something more of an article and less of a list? DarmaniLink (talk) 17:18, 7 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

-Hi, to be honest I thought this page was created to list the responses than generating a new “article”. The main article of this list-page is already existing as “2023 Turkey–Syria earthquake”. Therefore I’m suspicious whether this edit was really needed. Personal opinion: it was looking good with flags but I’m cool with the decision of the Wiki community. 176.219.118.60 (talk) 18:05, 7 February 2023 (UTC)an anonymous user[reply]
it did look cool with the flags but the bullet point format was inherently limiting. Like, if all the flags were next to the names in this format I wouldn't have a problem. There's a lot to talk about in every single country's contribution that a single bullet point is unable to cover by nature DarmaniLink (talk) 18:11, 7 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
:I see your point and agree with you now. On flag thing, I’d prefer to make effort for enrichment of the content than engage in these. 176.219.118.60 (talk) 18:44, 7 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please add as much information as you want/can to respective nations contributions.

[edit]

Its now in a format to handle that DarmaniLink (talk) 17:52, 7 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Once listed but now missing countries

[edit]

I noticed someone removed some countries from the list and do not understand the reason behind it. For example; Luxembourg, Holy See…

Another thing I noticed that some replaced all the content of an already listed country when he/she inserted the further updates instead of adding the latest aids just after the first sentence/sentences…

Even these are not vital details, I believe we should pay respect to aid efforts of different countries when list them here. Thanks. 176.219.117.38 (talk) 19:36, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

possible vandalism but i'll assume good faith for now and undo DarmaniLink (talk) 20:06, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I found what you were talking about and the deletions followed an ideologically motivated pattern.
Well, someone already undid it, so, that's good. If you see any deletions that look like vandalism without an edit summary, revert and ask them to explain themselves on the talk page.
Don't be afraid to revert, especially if its just deletions with no apparent good reason. DarmaniLink (talk) 20:12, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures of donations conducted by Turkish embassies

[edit]

I feel like there could be some pictures regarding the collection of donations by Turkish Embassies around the world, either in this article or the main article for the earthquake (not exactly sure which one is better to put in). Maybe an example can be this which I just uploaded. Any thoughts? SBS6577P (talk) 09:12, 9 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

UN member states vs other states

[edit]

Why are there two lists of countries, one with countries member of the UN, and one with other countries? Why not a single list?? 123.205.19.162 (talk) 15:06, 10 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This was inherited from the old list.
They can be merged but the article will have to be broken down into less categories later. We can split them up by region then move some regions with an especially detailed contribution to their own article. DarmaniLink (talk) 04:45, 11 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Too many sections subsections, should we reorganize by region (africa europe north america etc) ?

[edit]

I'm frankly not geographically "informed" enough to implement something like this, but, what do you guys think? DarmaniLink (talk) 10:27, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The template has been incorrectly removed twice, but I did do some checking with the help of Category:International responses to natural disasters. Based on them, I would say that we could use the style of the Reactions to the 2008 Sichuan earthquake article as a basis for this article. Not only would it resolve the subsections, but it would increase the quality of the article at the same time. --Super Goku V (talk) 06:46, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I backed up the old humanitarian aid section. Please add what you can to its respective nations.

Bangladesh sent a 46-strong medical and rescue team to Turkey along with the rescue equipment, medicine, tents and food. The rescue team includes 24 members from the Bangladesh Army, 12 personnel from the Bangladesh Fire Service & Civil Defence and 10 medical professionals along with one journalist. They left for Turkey by a Bangladesh Air Force C-130J transport aircraft.[1][2] On 10 February, the team pulled out a 17-year-old girl alive from the debris.[3] The Turkish Embassy in Dhaka called for support from the people of Bangladesh in the form of essential goods through TIKA’s (Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency) campaign assisted by Turkish Airlines. Turkish Airlines offered to fly the relief to Turkey free of charge, and the Bangladesh government would assist with the customs requirements to ensure swift delivery of humanitarian aid.[4] Bangladesh also sent 11 tonnes of humanitarian aid and medicines to Syria that include the required number of tents, blankets and dry food on a C-130J transport aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force.[5] Bangladesh observed one-day state mourning over the devastating earthquake on 9 February.[6]

Regional governments

[edit]

Please stop removing regional governments (Flanders, Iraqi Kurdistan, etc.) that acts separately from the central government. I don't see any positive impact on the article by removing this. Beshogur (talk) 21:17, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
