Auckland Office of Pacific Island Affairs

[edit]

It seems that the Auckland Office of Pacific Island Affairs referenced in the Pacific Islands Report is an erroneous name. This probably meant to reference the Ministry for Pacific Peoples, formerly the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs. I'm considering change if I cannot find other references to this name. • Whilst technically just long enough, I would not accept this article for DYK. The article structure is easy enough to fix; the lead is supposed to be a summary of the body but instead, part of the lead is missing from the body. The more fundamental issue is that there is little about the subject's background, and nothing about early life or education. In its current form, this bio is still a stub and DYK does not run stubs. Could those issues please be addressed? If so, I shall review the remaining DYK criteria. Schwede66 15:27, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • Thanks, Schwede. I'll restructure over the next couple days see what I can find on Hunukitama's background outside of his career. I think I could find a bit more bio detail, but I do not know whether it would cross from Stub status to Start status. Upjav (talk) 19:52, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've reorganized and expanded the article based on additional information I've found. I appreciate your review. As a note, I saw that IdiotSavant upgraded the article to Start-class shortly after your Stub-class assessment, if that impacts the review. Upjav (talk) 02:53, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks, that does look better. Yes, I saw that IdiotSavant had upgraded the article to start class. And while I did not agree with it at that point, there was no need to challenge that as you were about to embark on adding to the article. You've done so and whilst still not a brilliant bio, in its current state it does meet start class criteria. So that is good. It seems this is your fourth DYK so there's no need for a QPQ. The article is new and long enough. No copyvio detected. Suitably sourced. Maintenance tags are a no-no for DYK so you might want to enquire with User:Moriori what he'd like to see added before the tag can be removed. One obvious content issue is that the person who succeeded him is mentioned in the infobox but that should also be stated in the prose. With regards to the hook fact, I've had a read of the NZH article and they suggest that the meeting was in Baltimore; that's the USA rather than South Korea. So the maintenance tag needs resolving plus the hook fact straightened out. Schwede66 18:34, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks for the re-review and the catches you noted. I think I got my wires crossed on the location of the meetings because the Niuean politicians were later invited to Korea as guests of the church. I've made the changes you outlined and revised the hook above. With regard to the maintenance tag, I revised the language such that it no longer treats the coroner's report like an ongoing event. There isn't any follow-up reporting on where that went, and the coroner's review isn't really integral to the article. Instead, I changed the language to note that a police report was filed regarding Hunukitama's treatment which I feel gives sufficient detail and justifies removal of the maintenance tag.
