Splitting Mainland United States impacts?

Hurricane Dorian caused 10 deaths and $1.6 billion in damages on contiguous United States, especially North Carolina. And there is a unfinished draft about it, which is created by TropicalAnalystwx13 but moved into draftspace because of structure and never got finished by anyone, but I tagged that draft as promising because of the GA (or even FA) potential in that article. (BTW, I honestly thought that someone will complete that article around August, at same time as Hurricane Dolores (2015), which is also a GA!) SMB99thx my edits 12:21, 19 October 2020 (UTC)

I'm all for a Dorian split. It was a very notable storm that has a very big article. 🐔 Chicdat Bawk to me! 12:29, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
Why are splitting the entire mainland? Shouldn't we do individual states? It's going to be EXTREMELY complicated and confusing if we try to put the entire mainland U.S. into one article.ChessEric (talk · contribs) 02:39, 20 October 2020 (UTC)
It won't necessarily be confusing. It's to help expand on the less impacted states without bloating the main article and creating balance issues. Just a different approach to consolidating the main article. ~ Cyclonebiskit (chat) 03:20, 20 October 2020 (UTC)
I'm for the split, but the current article is very lackluster regarding Florida, Georgia, and Carolina impacts. ~ Destroyeraa🌀 12:39, 20 October 2020 (UTC)
I think TropicalAnalystwx13 just ran out of steam while trying to write the article and was only able to finish North Carolina. ~ Cyclonebiskit (chat) 20:48, 20 October 2020 (UTC)
Kinda with Destroyeraa here. --HurricaneTracker495 (talk) 20:42, 18 November 2020 (UTC)

Well now that TropicalAnalysistwx13 did a great job with the Carolinas (which has been published), the only question now is if Florida needs a sub-article or not. There's not much in the main article, so if anyone comes across any Florida info, I'd suggest adding it to the main article before attempting to split it. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 20:56, 18 November 2020 (UTC)

I have done the split. SMB99thx my edits 02:16, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
Oh, I disagree with there being a mainland US article. I don't think it should exist, rather that content should be in the main Dorian article. As noted above, the article doesn't have a ton of info for FL or GA, which is what the mainland US impacts were outside of Carolinas (Which have a sub-article). ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 02:30, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
After I like hurricanes disagreed with publishing of Mainland US impacts article, I have fully decided that in this point, I moved the Mainland US back to draft and changed it. SMB99thx my edits 03:27, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
I don’t think we should have one just for Florida because impacts are small maybe the mainland as a whole and ditch the effects of Dorian in N Carolina but I don’t think we should do it just for Florida Hurricanehink SMB99thx HurricaneTracker495 (talk) 13:06, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
Soon in the future I want to see Hurricane Dorian to become GA, and splitting Mainland US will prevent this. Please, don't merge too much articles. SMB99thx my edits 13:10, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
@SMB99thx: if you want it to be GA, why split Florida? Let’s just keep the 3 sub articles we have at that. HurricaneTracker495 (talk) 13:35, 19 November 2020 (UTC)

I agree, let's hold off on the Florida sub-article for now. The state only recorded tropical storm force winds, so there aren't likely to be significant impacts in the state (aside from maybe beach erosion). ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 15:38, 19 November 2020 (UTC)

How about Georgia maybe? Where they saw category 3 winds? HurricaneTracker495 (talk) 18:07, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
@HurricaneTracker495: No, they at most saw strong tropical-storm force sustained winds too. C3 Dorian was too far offshore. ~ Destroyeraa🌀 21:07, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
@Destroyeraa: how come it said that Dorian was a category 3 in the mainland USA? Still, I support Florida not having an article. And SMB99thx, when you read this, please look at this and make a final decision on if you really still want that to be an article or if you don’t mind it being redirected/deleted. HurricaneTracker495 (talk) 21:09, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
Okay then. The Draft:Effects of Hurricane Dorian in Florida will be redirected into Hurricane Dorian, at least for now. After GA, that article could probably be split. SMB99thx my edits 22:26, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
Good idea. Sorry I couldn’t respond earlier-busy dealing with Samlaptop85213 IP sock. HurricaneTracker495 (talk) 22:44, 19 November 2020 (UTC)

TCR says peak winds in the US were C1 in SC and NC. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 21:44, 19 November 2020 (UTC)

@Hurricanehink: updated Carolina article to reflect that. --HurricaneTracker495 (talk) 22:28, 19 November 2020 (UTC)

Please add the following reference to the end of the below sentence:

"After weakening considerably, Dorian began moving northwestward on September 3, parallel to the east coast of Florida.[1]"

Death toll should be 86, Carolina’s 5, Florida 6, Bahamas 74, PR 1 64.18.10.199 (talk) 15:11, 28 December 2021 (UTC)

Check the sub articles, you can clearly see 74 in the Bahamas and 5 in the carolinas, plus 1 in the Caribbean. And there were 6 more in Florida which adds to 86. 64.18.10.199 (talk) 15:25, 28 December 2021 (UTC)

Please change the typo, were to where- "...water.[155] Rainfall extended north to Guadeloupe ***were*** accumulations reached 121 mm (4.8 in) in Matouba.[156] Striking...". Thanks 120.16.57.53 (talk) 11:44, 3 October 2022 (UTC)

You might like to choose the most appropriate- "...A devastating storm surge..." or "Devastating storm surges...". for this section ***"...d. Devastating storm surge of up to 23 feet..."***. Thanks 120.16.57.53 (talk) 12:00, 3 October 2022 (UTC)

Florida

Please add ***the*** before the word storm- "...Naples, while two other people died during preparations for storm.[14]: 9...". Thanks 120.16.57.53 (talk) 12:34, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
