GA Review[edit]

This article was nearly ready for the process before I added some nbsps and convert templates and updated the storm total image, which now conforms to the text per a storm data article from September 1971. Thegreatdr (talk) 14:02, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I will be reviewing this article for GA status, and should have the full review up soon. Dana boomer (talk) 12:51, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA review (see here for criteria)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose): b (MoS):
    • In the lead, you say "which formed Ginger, Heidi and a tropical depression." I'm assuming Ginger and Heidi are other hurricanes, but could you explicitly state this? Also, was the tropical depression Fern? If so, could you say something like "and a tropical depression which eventually became Fern."?
    • In the naming section, you say "However a change in the naming policy prevented the further use of the name Fern. As a result, this was the second time the name Fern was used in the Atlantic basin." Would this be "last time the name was used"? or perhaps "second and last"? I guess it just isn't making sense to be to say that further use was prevented, and as a result of that, this was the second time the name was used.
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
    • I'd like to see a ref on the naming (last three sentences of article).
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:

There are a couple of minor prose issues and one place where I'd like to see a reference, so I'm putting this article on hold. Drop me a note if you have any questions. Dana boomer (talk) 13:08, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll get to fixing the article by tomorrow. Thegreatdr (talk) 17:49, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. I think I've fixed the problems you raised. Was I too specific about the other tropical depression? Thegreatdr (talk) 14:09, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I did a little bit more editing on the lead...please make sure that it acurately reflects what happened. Other than that, everything looks good, so I am passing the article to GA status. Nice work! Dana boomer (talk) 20:32, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
