Linking

Dhaka shouldn’t be linked to Dhaka Division since they are distinct entities, which would mislead readers. Similarly, Bengal shouldn’t be linked to Bengal Presidency for the same reason—they are separate entities. For example, use Moana for the Disney character, which appears as Moana and leads to the intended page—instead of Moana, which appears identical but leads to a disambiguation page

You are conflating two distinct contexts. Piping disambiguation pages is different from piping two separate geographical entities. MOS:LINKCLARITY supports my stance. It is essential to maintain a clear distinction between Dhaka Division and Dhaka, as well as Bengal Presidency and Bengal. Piping these entities together only detracts from clarity. The locations at issue shouldn't be linked at all. Per MOS:GEOLINK "For a geographical location expressed as a sequence of two or more territorial units, link only the first unit"; as for the citizenship, Indian nationality law indicates that no separate Indian citizenship existed until 1949 so that entry should be subsumed into the previous one.
