Traces and transformations

I wish there was more talk about the traces and transformations that go along with different equations of hyperboloids. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.228.95.189 (talk) 23:36, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Transverse Axis

From the article

A hyperboloid of revolution of one sheet can be obtained by revolving a hyperbola around its transverse axis.

when searching for def of transverse axis the first three definitions give

The line segment that contains the center and whose endpoints are the two vertices of a hyperbola..

Now if we rotate around this axis we get the two sheet hyperboloid. Something seems awry. --Salix alba (talk) 15:08, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Generators of a one-sheeted hyperboloid

I have found dozens of assertions online and in journals that a one-sheeted hyperboloid may be generated by three pairwise skew lines, but so far no direct way to do this. There is no mention of generators of a general one-sheeted hyperboloid on this page, nor the mechanicsm of generating a hyperboloid in this way. Perhaps someone can produce this mechanism, and update the page? See for reference: http://mathworld.wolfram.com/Hyperboloid.html Memethief (talk) 18:03, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
