As an independent person with no involvement in Hypnobirthing, I agree with the author below that this term needs its own article, as the term is now sufficiently common (and contained in most pregnancy books). Further the explanation of the trademark issues and the different commercial variants is relevant to clear up confusion amongst "common people" like me. We re-instated this as an independent (non-redirected) page for the following reasons:

1. We felt that the term "hypnobirthing" was popular enough to warrant its own page.

2. There are a number of different styles and related techniques and we felt that the difference was worth explaining.

3. There had been claims that previous pages (not by myself) were advertising pages, and we wanted to create a page that was clear of any such taint.

4. The fact that there are some trademark registrations of the term in some juristictions we felt required clearer explanation.

5. The fact of the existing trademarks should not preclude the existence of the page - i.e. there are still pages for "Coca Cola" and "iPhone", despite the fact that pages for "soft drink" and "smartphone" also exist.

6. We wanted a clear view of the sources and origins of the practice.

We would very much welcome additions to the page where further research, matters of interest, and official bodies are concerned, but we do not feel that continued deletion or redireciton of the page would very well serve the interests of improving the quality of objective information on this topic in the Wikipedia.

It would probably be best if individual practitioners and hypnotists did not add links to their own web sites from the page. This will keep the page free of "advertising taint", unless it can be shown that real additional information or original research can be added by those links.

Merge with Hypotherapy in Childbirth[edit]

I am pretty sure this is exactly the same thing. It seems if you google "hynotherapy in childbirth" you get more UK sources, and you get more US source for "hypnobirthing." But there is no difference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lagringa (talkcontribs) 20:00, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal[edit]

The two articles Hypnotherapy in childbirth and Hypnobirthing seem to be covering the exact same topic. Lineslarge (talk) 14:38, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. --Ronz (talk) 17:09, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Agree. Hypnobirthing should be merged into Hypnotherapy in childbirth. Mootros (talk) 17:57, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
