The page says "he climbed 15 mountains over 8,000 meters" but there are only 14 eight-thousanders in existence. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.161.19.181 (talk) 06:59, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

While I believe that he successfully summited some 8,000ers more than once, I've been unable to find a proper source, so I've eliminated this passage for now. Steveozone (talk) 15:54, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"No source cited for assertion that he had 15 summits on 8000ers"

[edit]

User:Steveozone made that last revert, stating there is "No source cited for assertion that he had 15 summits on 8000ers". If you care to check with Eberhard Jurgalski [8000ers.com] you will find Iñaki in his PDF named "Climbers with 10 to 14 MAIN 8000ers" [[1]] having a total 12 different 8000m peaks, and a repetition of Cho Oyu, bringing the total to 13. Excellent, thanks. I've fixed the passage, I think. Here's the thing: there is one source (everestnews.com) which consistently reports that Ochoa de Olza summited Cho Oyu three times. I'm not sure of the reliability of that count, and would generally go with Jurgalski's list before everestnews. However, if Ochoa had repeated Cho Oyu not just once, but twice, it looks to me like his entry on Jurgalski's list would read the same, that Cho Oyu was a "repeat." Regardless, I think that the text is now fair and accurate, pending some more research and verification. If not, let me know.Steveozone (talk) 00:26, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
