Outstanding issues for GA

[edit]

Ok you're almost there only the issues below remain. You've done a great job so far and the article has improved as a result. I'm really looking forward to being able to pass this :) Acer (talk) 23:49, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Some of the refs are missing page numbers
I see you've added the page numbers, thanks again. Only the synopsis left now Acer (talk) 00:31, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Should I also mention that the Lead should really be expanded? --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 00:31, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, but I can tackle that one myself before passing GA. If they handle the synopsis I'll be more than satisfied. :) Acer (talk) 00:38, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • The citation needed tag should be dealt with
- added source info. its a quote from the novel itself... i do not know the page number and its hundreds of pages... if anyone knows? --Michaeltufaro (talk) 05:36, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I fixed this. NB that I think someone had tried to copy-edit Roa Bastos, as the quotation wasn't completely accurate! I fixed that, too. --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 06:32, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • The question that I posted above needs to be answered, where does the quote begin?
- added opening quotation mark, sorry it took so long, sloppiness on my part. fixed now.--Michaeltufaro (talk) 05:40, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Mike, can you double-check that? It doesn't look right, as there's a "[who]" that looks as though that is part of the quotation too. I moved the quotation mark accordingly, but wasn't sure if I was right, and this needs to be accurate. --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 06:32, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
-Jon, to be honest i remember quoting the sentence as it appeared in the article, but i might have made a mistake where the quotation mark began... What i remember is that there was another part of the sentence that was somewhat less relevant and the [who] explained who it was talking about... without needing the other bit. But the book is back at the UBC library... I do remember that though...--Michaeltufaro (talk) 18:55, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, this does need to be checked (hence another trip to the library). We run the risk of one of two problems, both of which we want to avoid: 1) plagiarism, if we present Hoyt Williams's words as our own; 2) misrepresentation, if we present our words as Hoyt Williams's. Fortunately, it'll only take two minutes once you're in the library. --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 19:12, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I fixed this one, though frankly thanks to google books rather than the library: the book wasn't on the library shelf. Aargh! Even so: Done. --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 00:15, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thx JB, one down two to go Acer (talk) 00:27, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Address concerns regarding synopsis raised by your professor. (Lets try the approach he recommended, place your draft in the article and we'll work from there)

Kn310376 and I have discussed it and he has already done a proper synopsis but has not yet placed it. Please post it up! --Michaeltufaro (talk) 05:42, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Michaeltufaro, if you add something, then we can make a start, eh? --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 06:32, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Wow, this was so close! I had decided to fail it yesterday seince I thought you werent coming back, but luckily I arrived home late at night and went straight to bed. Its great to see you havent given up, the article only needs a small little push for GA Acer (talk) 23:19, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I just added an expanded lead, Jb expanded the synopsis and the reference issues have been solved so I'm passing this, Congratulations!!! Acer (talk) 11:54, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Moved from article

[edit]

The main source for them is the "Colección Doroteo Bareiro" at the 'Archivo Nacional de Asunción'. These collection of all the Francia's originated documents in the Archive, was recently published in whole, commented[1].

Moved the above here because I don't think it really belongs in this article. Also, the citation needs to back up the claim being made ("main source" etc), rather than just linking to the collection. EyeSerenetalk 17:28, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Death in a fire?

[edit]

"followed by Francia's death in a fire in 1840". I don't have the novel at home, but the Internet indicates that many documents burnt in a fire and Francia died from his sickness a few days later.82.177.40.227 (talk) 18:58, 7 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How Stroessner came to power

[edit]

There's a minor mistake in that part, because Stroessner did not in come to power after the 1947 Civil War (the Colorado Party was the one to gain power over Paraguay). Stroessner came to power in 1954, backed by the Colorado Party and the military. I think that paragraph is a quotation (of either Deiner or Rowe & Whitfield), that's why I didn't just change the facts. I wanted to point this out, so that somebody (with proper information) can change that eventually. Greatings! PS: My english ain't the greatest haha, I know.
