Oh my goodness, how old is the source for this article? "Highest honour that a track athlete may obtain"? Goodness, it's just a conference championship. At least the NCAAs, the U.S. Nationals, the World Championships, and the Olympics are higher honors. All of the distances in yards? The "broad jump"? This sounds like it came from the '50's, if not a lot older.
