Discrepancy

In the lede, it says that ING is the 18th largest company in the world by sales with $150 billion. The source is the 2012 Fortune 500 list. However, looking at the company's actual income statement, I see that sales were in fact, $42.6 billion. So far, I have been unable to account for this discrepancy but, admittedly, I haven't spent too much time on it. There may be sales that are presented on a different financial statement of a separate subsidiary -- I don't know. However, if a real accounting for the discrepancy between the two numbers cannot be produced, then the sentence must be deleted. After all, the income statement is straight from the horse's mouth. ask123 (talk) 19:40, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

I decided to be bold and removed "The Group is also the world's 18th largest corporation by revenue.." In addition to the above discrepancy, the source link is wrong. It links to the 2014 list, which doesn't even mention ING. 73.49.233.247 (talk) 23:46, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

Cites for capital injection/repayment section

I updated the Capital injection/repayment section, but didn't have time to sprinkle in the appropriate citations. If anyone wants to do it before I get a chance to come back, here are some useful reference links:

Insurance section

I have just removed the insurance section as a clear copyvio. As such, it needs rewriting. If any of the rest of the article has been copied word-for-word, it really needs to be removed. J Milburn (talk) 17:29, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Pronunciation?

Could anyone indicate the correct (=Dutch?) pronunciation? In radio ads here in Italy, it is roughly pronounced as "E-N-G" would be pronounced in English, which is in fact what led me to search what country the company is from :-) —Gennaro Prota•Talk 16:38, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

ING Australia

The statement that "ING Australia had been defrauded of $45 Million" doesn't belong under ING Direct Australia. ING Australia (insurance/superannuation), distinct from ING Direct Australia, was the company this article related to. ING Australia was purchased by ANZ in 2009, and rebranded as "OnePath" in 2010: http://www.onepath.com.au/aboutOnePath/9890.aspx. ING Direct Australia remains part of the group. Mjhilton (talk) 05:50, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Thanks. Fixed it. I think I've got it right now, but please correct (with refs) if I've missed something. peterl (talk) 11:06, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

ING Direct section

The ING Direct section seems excessively long/detailed compared to the article as a whole, I don't want to go in and delete information recklessly, what do people think? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ibmonkey88 (talkcontribs) 00:12, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

The statement that ING Direct Canada has been sold is incorrect, this is still part of the group. Only the insurance section of ING Canada was sold-off: http://www.ing.com/group/showdoc.jsp?docid=367050_EN 24.132.106.8 (talk) 06:24, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

Mongolia

On the map, Mongolia is grey, yet it is on the list of places where ING operate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.102.52.2 (talk) 14:10, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

Merger proposal

ING Direct is a marketing name of ING Group, so that article should be a paragraph in this article.124.170.100.123 (talk) 21:29, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Removed Incorrect Information

My name is Martin Boer and I work in External Communications at ING Group in Amsterdam. I can be reached at martin.boer@ing.com / Today I removed two erroneous references to ING having offices and made an acquisition in Bosnia-Herzegovina. This is simply not true. I have also removed references to our former CFO, Cees Maas, who retired a few months ago. This is my first time on Wikipedia so please do inform me if this needs to be handled in a different way. Best wishes, Martin Boer. martinboer 14:40, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

That's fine. This appears to be a strict factual issue and you were very up front about it. If you think any change would be controversial in the future, I recommend you suggest it here (on talk) and let others have the final say. I have made another change to the "Key people" section by adding John Hele, the new CFO, and using official titles. All three people are cited to their profiles on ING's web site. ING Property Management "Bullies" Commercial Real Estate Tenants

Neutrality disputed

Is the 'neutrality disputed' box still necessary? It seems to me (judging from a glance at the talk page and history) the dispute was related to the labor dispute and 'the wrongdoings'. IMHO this box should be removed. CjDMaX 20:20, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

  • I've tweaked the wording for the ethics investigations so that's more NPOV, and have detagged it, seems fine now. --Firien need help? 15:38, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Defamatory Material Removed

Today I had some free time, so I looked at the labor dispute section. There were no valid sources (a reference to the union's press release doesn't count). The material was highly POV and used inflammatory language. I therefore deleted the whole thing. Feel free to reconstruct that from scratch if you can find some reliable sources. Otherwise, the material doesn't belong in this article. Jehochman (Talk/Contrib) 16:51, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

General comments

Is it just me, or almost this whole article about what the company did wrong? (Darkskul 19:02, 25 February 2007 (UTC))

I agree. If the company was wise, they would send a representative to post here on the talk page. We need additional information and references to properly balance the article. They can wait for some editor to come along and do all that work, or they can facilitate the process by supplying information that we can verify and use.
