Please make sure that all content in the infobox is fully explained and sourced in the text.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 23:56, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WP:LEAD
  • It seem that IPad (3rd generation) should be linked.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 23:23, 26 June 2012 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • The LEAD should be a summary of the entire article. The critical reception section is among overlooked elements of the article in this summary. Basically, the LEAD should say whether or not it was favorably received and how well it sold.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 23:23, 26 June 2012 (UTC)  Done[reply]
    • Something more substantive than first month sales should be in the article by now. Either 2011 or first year sales at a minimum should be in the article. A fairly current cumulative total would be best.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 18:04, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
      • Apple is very secretive about their sales figures1 however I managed to find a source with the sales figures for Q3 2011 and included that in the article, there are various estimates but some of these include the entire year of 2011 which from my understanding means the first generation iPad sales for 2011 are also included. • The release date content should do a better job of meshing with the infobox. I would suggest that stating that it was initially released in the US. Then, it was released in Western Europe and Oceana before it was released on three subsequent release dates to a various other markets. Include the final release date in the LEAD.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 23:30, 26 June 2012 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • The infobox should say something like 5.1.1 (upgradeable from X and Y), IMO. Would this be abnormal for a hardware article?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:40, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • The iPad 2 is currently upgradeable from any software version that it ever operated on, in other words it can be upgraded from any version between 4.3 and 5.1. YuMaNuMa Contrib 15:07, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
      • Might someone buy one with something other than 5.1.1? If so, it seems we should say its operating systems range from 4.3 to 5.1.1 with full upgradability.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 17:18, 29 June 2012 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • Also, shouldn't a lot of the infobox links in iPad (3rd_generation) be carried over to this?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:45, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • I don't quite get what you were trying to say there, please explain. YuMaNuMa Contrib 15:07, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
      • Why aren't the things linked in the 3rd Gen infobox linked in this infobox?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 17:15, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
        •  DoneI tried linking as many abbreviations and technical jargon that is relevant to the comprehension of this article as possible. YuMaNuMa Contrib 02:32, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
History
  • Why aren't all the release dates in the infobox in the main text with proper sourcing? Something that basic leads me to believe that there is probably a lot of basic content missing from the article.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 23:55, 26 June 2012 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • "The 16 GB Wi-Fi and 16 GB Wi-Fi + 3G models are still in production." needs an {{asof}}--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 22:24, 27 June 2012 (UTC)  Done[reply]
Software
  • link iOS on first use.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 22:30, 27 June 2012 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • "The iPad 2 comes with Photo Booth, an application in which users can take photos and add effects to them." should be in a paragraph about preloaded software rather than with the operating system. (see the 1st sentence of para 3).--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 22:30, 27 June 2012 (UTC)  Done[reply]
    • Is it possible to do more than name the preloaded software. Is there anything to say about some of the more important preloaded software? Also, many of these are notable enough to have links.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 18:12, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
      • I expanded on the apps that are unique to iOS, other applications like "Photo", "Video" or even the internet browser (Safari) are pretty straight forward and don't justify a sentence explaining what their purposes are. YuMaNuMa Contrib 06:45, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Can you state how much of the 16GB is consumed by preloaded software.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 23:42, 27 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • I tried Googling this for two days, unfortunately I couldn't find a source that would specify how much is consumed, I would imagine that it would vary a bit as the software for the 3G+WiFi and WiFi only are different. YuMaNuMa Contrib 15:21, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hardware
  • The first paragraph needs to be merged or expanded. My feeling is that there should be more than the dimension of the screen. Are there vibrancy metrics or color spectrum descriptors?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 18:22, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • Merged with the second paragraph, I've included the pixel density but Apple didn't release any detailed technical information about the screen. YuMaNuMa Contrib
      • Please link pixel density.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:22, 29 June 2012 (UTC) Done[reply]
      • This is my first hardware article review. Is it common for a supplier to omit screen technical information?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:22, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
        • Generally, no but it seems like Apple has developed its own protocols that is independent of ones that are set by the most manufacturers hence the criticisms about the restrictions(on information, software, hardware, etc) that Apple has implemented.</rant> YuMaNuMa Contrib 15:16, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
      • Shouldn't there be some content about a video card?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:25, 29 June 2012 (UTC) Done[reply]
  • The first sentence now seems run-on. (and the graphics card should be linked like the infobox).--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 17:14, 29 June 2012 (UTC) Done[reply]
  • "Several components were made smaller to fit the iPad 2." - needs some context. Were components adapted from the Macbook or something?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 23:23, 27 June 2012 (UTC)  Done(Sentence has been removed as it wasn't sourced, couldn't find any references to verify that claim and doubt there are any)YuMaNuMa Contrib [reply]
  • I don't own an iPad, but Airplay sounds like preloaded software and not hardware. Should it be in the prior section?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 23:42, 27 June 2012 (UTC)  Done - sentence removed as there's an existing article that explains what AirPlay is, that article is now linked in the software section.YuMaNuMa Contrib [reply]
  • FaceTime video calls with other iPads, the iPhone 4 and 4S,...--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 23:42, 27 June 2012 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • Please source the video camera capabilities description.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 18:37, 28 June 2012 (UTC)  Done[reply]
  • Please source the unsourced paragraph.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:28, 29 June 2012 (UTC) Done[reply]

  • I am putting this on hold as a courtesy. I would ordinarily fail this article, but in the spirit of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles/GAN backlog elimination drives/June-July 2012, I will monitor this for 7 days. I think it needs a lot of work and will be surprised if all my concerns are address, but with the nominator good luck.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:14, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • My lack of tech knowledge is apparent. I did not think you would be able to address my concerns without greatly expanding the article. I thought it would take a lot longer. I am not entirely sure that this is a broad and deep as it should be, but it seems to cover the topic to me (a non-iPad owner). I am passing this article.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 07:04, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
      • Thanks for taking the time to assess this article, comparing this article to the 3rd generation iPad article certainly makes this one look a bit brief but obviously factors such as the growing popularity of the iPad will cause sources and details regarding next generation iPad models to be more extensive than the previous ones. I'm sure if anyone feels that this article is lacking some vital information, they would request for a reassessment. Anyways, thanks again! :) YuMaNuMa Contrib 07:43, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
