The result of the move request was: Not controversial. The Requested move process take seven days which we don't have time for. Just wait for an admin to take action via the administrator's noticeboard note I posted or the speedy on iPad Air. Marcus Qwertyus (talk) 19:18, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

IPad (5th generation)iPad Air – This is the real name of the 5th generation iPad. Someone decided to make a redirect. Zach Vega (talk to me) 18:24, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ives Image[edit]

I have removed Ive's image from the page as its over precedence to someone that isn't actually relevant to the product at hand. The article already gives too much precedence to the software over the actual product and does not need an image to support that further.Blethering Scot 20:19, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ive is the designer of the operating system, which is the aspect that the consumer uses. The software section is the most prominent because we've had info on it for over four months, whereas info on the rest of the iPad Air has just come out or has yet to. Once we get more information in, the software section will seem less prevalent. For an example, see the iPhone 5S article. Zach Vega (talk to me) 20:44, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Just because its relevant isn't enough of a reason for a photo. Its has to be justifiable and add something to the scope of the article and in this case its not as it over emphasises something that is already over emphasised. Yes Ive designed the software so yes a photo in the article of that software alone could certainly add something to it but not here. A photo of the actual device, location of announcement or even the actual software (questionable over the others) is what it needs at this time.Blethering Scot 20:50, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Over time, a photo of the actual device and announcement location will emerge. As said earlier, the iPhone 5S article has all of those things. This article is currently under construction, meaning that certain, more developed ideas may be emphasized before more important information is released. Jonathan Ive designed the operating system. His ideas included "refined typography, new icons, translucency, layering, physics, and gyroscope-driven parallaxing as some of the major changes to the design," and his departure from skeuomorphic design has had a major impact on the iPad's design as a whole. Zach Vega (talk to me) 20:59, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
none of that means a photo of the designer is required on this page, yes on software and various others but not prominently over more of what is needed relevant images of the type I've mentioned above. Photos should add something that cant be achieved in text and when we would only be over emphasising something that through whatever reason is already over emphasised its unnecessary. Once article is fully developed and needs images to futher it then at that point a re-discussion would be wise. For now though i see no reason for that image to be included here.Blethering Scot 21:21, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No article requires images. It's just that Ive has made a major contribution to the iPad's software. Articles don't have images added once the text is complete (and the text is really never complete). Zach Vega (talk to me) 22:09, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No the addition of an image of Ive does not add anything at all to the article. Yes articles require images but they should be appropriate and add something visually that cant be done by text. An image of Ive is Ott and i am not the only one to tell you that. Blethering Scot 16:20, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
How is a photo of Jonathan Ive not appropriate for it? What do you suggest we put in place? Zach Vega (talk to me) 10:45, 24 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Im not repeating myself every few sentences. I have told you photos the article needs and why a photo of Ive isn't needed. Im the second person to do so and maybe, just maybe, its time to drop the stick.Blethering Scot 20:17, 24 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Still an 5th generation iPad.[edit]

For the sake of Wiki readers to know the generation, Wiki should go by generation and not the names Apple pulls out of the air (yes, I know). The 5th gen is still the same screen size (9.7") and resolution as the 4th and 3ed gen, just a smaller case and faster motherboard. Zach Vega, names used are iPad, iPad 2, iPad with Retina, Retina iPad(?), but it is all the same family. =Flightsoffancy (talk) 21:57, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Apple actually uses the same naming convention we currently do. Old Smart Cover compatibility v. new Smart Cover compatibility. Marcus Qwertyus (talk) 22:21, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, interesting. Seems Apple is trying to break from previous gens, just thinking. Flightsoffancy (talk) 14:52, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The name change is partly because the Air has a significantly different shape and weight compared to the last few iPads. Frmorrison (talk) 15:18, 25 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Do this article really need the "Under Construction" banner any more?[edit]

Clearly it does not. Most of the major editing on the article has been completed. Only minor edits in the last few days. The banner is only an eye sore at this point. I don;t think that we really need for there to be absolutely no exits on the article for several days. That would be ridiculous.--JOJ Hutton 17:40, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it's necessary anymore either. GSK 17:42, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Me neither, so I removed it here and at iPad Mini (2nd generation), but someone keeps adding it back in.--JOJ Hutton 17:47, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable sources[edit]

I think the company's own commercial site shouldn't be used as a reliable source. Dmatteng (talk) 20:35, 27 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

GPS[edit]

The GPS feature of the mobile phone model of iPad Air has been forgotten. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.87.3.195 (talk) 22:09, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Connectors[edit]

The article mentions a Lighting connector, http://store.apple.com/uk/buy-ipad/ipad-air shows that there is also a 3.5mm headphone jack, so should these two be listed under Connectors in the Info box. John a s (talk) 14:27, 3 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

IPad AirIPad Air (1st generation) – The base title should ideally be a general overview of the various generations of the product line similar to iPad Pro or iPad Mini, and there is clearly no primary topic for the base title "iPad Air" itself. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 13:16, 25 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Conditional oppose since there is not a suggested existing page to either replace IPad Air or retarget IPad Air to. Unless such a page exists, this is a solution that will result in a problem. Steel1943 (talk) 16:39, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The only possible existing option I could find would be retargeting IPad Air to IPad#iPad Air. Steel1943 (talk) 16:42, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The Other models section could potentially be split into a new article. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 23:04, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose moving, Oppose splitting as there isn't enough content to support different articles. —Locke Coletc 23:14, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • Support, and agree that the Other models section could form the basis of a base-article on the topic. —Locke Coletc 16:27, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support moving, all the other generations are so disambiguated, and the 1st generation is definitely not the primary topic of this term. In lieu of a base article, this can redirect to the base family article iPad (iPad#iPad Air), and you'll have time to write up a new "iPad Air" base in the meantime. There is no reason for something that is not the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC to occupy the base location. Alternatively, a disambiguation page can be situated here while awaiting your overview article. -- 65.92.247.226 (talk) 07:52, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
