Excessive Plot Summary tag?!

[edit]

If 4 paragraphs out of a 25+ paragraph article is too long, I'm a monkey's uncle. Joylock (talk) 22:23, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clean-up

[edit]

This article needs to change. It sounds somewhat juvenile.

You sound somewhat juvenile. And you didn't sign your post. Zoffoperskof (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 14:05, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

When saying that the article is "juvenile", it would be nice to include an explanation as to why you think that it's juvenile. Frankly, I see nothing wrong with it. Good job. 66.32.185.242 (talk) 05:44, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy

[edit]

I can understand, as a Jewish person, how the Nimok scenario in the game could be seen as offensive. However, the point being to show that Nimok is a unredeemable monster, is a good way of illustrating how immoral the Nazis were. It reminds me alot of the Twilight Zone episodes, where the Nazis were put in some sort of horrible situation of some sort. Which makes sense, being that Rod Serling is Jewish. I guess if you can't take revenge on someone in reality, the next best thing is to take revenge on them in fiction.

I really find the whole, feeding helpless animals to iron zepplins part of the game, much more disturbing. I mean, not to say that WW2 wasn't horrible, but that I live farther away from that period of time. Also, I really don't get the whole, harming animals thing..especially with cats. Seems to be some strange, guy thing. Not to be sexist, it just I usually see that stuff happening in more male targeted media. I didn't grow up with any brothers, so the whole thing is a mystery to me.

Do you think that I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream could've inspired the Saw films? The storyline seems very simliar, especially where the computer asks "Do you want to play a game with me?". 24.13.219.137 22:21, 6 October 2006

Well, the game was designed by three guys (Ellison included), so it's not surprising that the ethical dilemmas presented were from a male perspective. In any case, welcome to Wikipedia, anonymous. Please remember to sign your posts, and that this talk page is for talking about how to improve the article. Primogen 18:48, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

European censorship

[edit]

Whoever modified this section needs to clarify the tidbit about the European versions being impossible to solve. The French version is definitely completable (even if the story doesn't make much sense without the Nimdok chapter). Kaminari 21:28, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I modified this section. The statement that the game was unsolvable is not made by me but it's in the German source I provided. As far as I know Nimdok is necessary for both an easy quick way, ending in "I have no mouth, and I must scream" and a long way involving all five characters. How is it possible in the French version? As I stated I have no idea. It's in the source. - Jack's Revenge 22:06, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It is not true that the game cannot be played through in the German version. The source you provided only states that one puzzle cannot be solved logically. I have to admit that this wasn't well put in the source. It was possible for me to finish the game and I got exactly the good ending described in the article. I corrected this. We should also change the headline as "Censorship in Europe" suggests that the game was cut in every European country the game was released. However, there was a Spanish release of the game that was uncut. Furthermore, I think we should better use the term "cut verions" instead of "censorship". Censorship means in my opinion that the state forced the localisation company to cut the game; however there is no source for this. It could have been also that the localisation company cut the game by itself to make the game better accepted on the market. SimSaw (talk) 07:51, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Which PC Gamer?

[edit]

One of the reviews quoted is from a 1996 "PC Gamer". Since PC Gamer is a very successful magazine in both the UK and the US, and since the editions are very different in each country, a more specific source is needed. 86.132.142.246 (talk) 22:10, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For the benefit of anyone else reading, this has now been resolved - it was the January one. 193.63.174.211 (talk) 12:19, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:No Mouth Box Front.jpg

[edit]

Image:No Mouth Box Front.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Nimdok?

[edit]

There is a reference to 'nimdok's research' but it isn't clear what it is. RJFJR (talk) 13:45, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clarified somewhat in the article I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream on the story. RJFJR (talk) 13:49, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Characters

[edit]

Can we please have a list of the characters here since the characters in the game much differ from the characters in the short story? --Victory93 (talk) 05:11, 8 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can't run on Windows 8 I recently bought the original game on cd from a church shop for $3.00 can anyone explain how I could get it to run on Windows 8 or do I need a new game ? 116.251.143.56 (talk) 05:04, 6 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A google search for "running old games in windows 8" will help you here, 116.251.143.56 ... 193.63.174.211 (talk) 12:21, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Clean-up?

[edit]

This page lacks citations and reads like a high school essay, especially the Gameplay and Development sections. 38.116.202.11 (talk) 14:10, 5 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Misexoticism

[edit]

Is this word well-chosen? a small internet search has only shown sites that refer to the article and no other wikipedia article refers to this word. Is there a similar word that is usualy used instead or is it a very uncommon word? if there is, consider replacing it, please. --80.136.228.159 (talk) 22:54, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Gone, now. 193.63.174.211 (talk) 12:22, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Screenshot quality...

[edit]

When MobyGames has a vast catalogue of crisp, full SVGA-resolution shots for this game, and presumably no issues with their fair use reproduction for illustrative purposes, why the heck is WP using a scrunched-down, somewhat blurred 480x360 resolution one (with barely legible text and a rather dark gamma setting) from a random other site that doesn't even rate a reference in the article footer? Indeed, we could probably stretch to two or three of them to illustrate particular key elements, couldn't we?

(I still have no account so I can't upload to WM myself, sorry. But I believe the process is fairly painless, and all the resources are there to be had...) 193.63.174.211 (talk) 12:26, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ellen in Ted's chapter

[edit]

I think Ellen in Ted's chapter is the same as the playable character... looks the same, same voice actress... and in the Finale the SuperEgo reminds Ellen about Ted.

I removed the "not the same as the playable Ellen",because I'm pretty certain it's a mistake. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.236.79.142 (talk) 16:30, 12 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
