Gambari has come under heavy criticism for his defense of the Nigerian Abacha regime while he was Nigeria's UN representative, particularly relating to his perceived failure to pretest the deaths of Chief M.K.O Abiola, Ken Saro-Wiwa, Kudirat Abiola, Pa Alfred Rewane, and others, particularly by activists such as Sowore Omoyele.

I'm not sure how this relates to the libel requirements, but this is a public record about this figure, and important to his reception in places to which he is sent by the UN that repressive regimes, such as Burma, so it seems that this aspect of his career should be included. There were no sources for these claims, so I removed that part in accordance with Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. Picaroon (t) 18:55, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gambari is on record to have defended military rule in Nigeria. Evidence are glaring. If he is repentant that should be stated. When it comes to Gambari there would always be a controversy. The generality of Nigerians know the truth and the world deserve the truth. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.21.70.254 (talk) 17:14, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, if he is on record as having done this, please cite some sources. The only source you have cited, http://www.nysun.com/article/10487?page_no=3, says

Ruder Finn, which was founded by Annan associate David Finn, was approached to improve the Abacha government's image by Ibrahim Gambari, who served at the time as Nigeria's U.N. ambassador. Mr. Gambari is now a U.N. undersecretary-general, reporting directly to Mr. Annan as his top adviser on African issues.

Mr. Gambari did not return repeated phone calls by the Sun to his office last week.
