I plan to add more to fill in the 60's to the 80's and put some pictures in - feel free to join in Paxse 17:57, 9 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Turns out there is an article on Khieu Thirith. I am deleting the text and forwarding to this article. What follows is the uncited text from that article. This is probably not the place for it, but I'm pretty new to Wikipedia, and not sure where to stash it temporarily. Anywho, here it is:

Khieu Thirith was the younger sister of Khieu Ponnary, Wife of Pol Pot. She married Ieng Sary, while in Paris with her sister Khieu Ponnary. Her husband later became known as Solath Sar, and was part of the brain trust under Pol Pot. After the victory by the Khmer Rouge Khieu Thirith became known by her married name, Ieng Thirith, and became the minister of social affairs in the Khmer Rouge, a regime that became notorious for overworking the population, starving many to death, and tearing apart families. She, along with her husband, were the most public members of the short-lived communist organization, as her sister, Khieu Ponnary had become mentally ill, and was housed separately from her husband, Pol Pot. After her defection from Pol Pot and the remaining Khmer Rouge, Ieng Thirith was granted amnesty by the Cambodian government in 1996. She lives with her husband in Pailin, Cambodia.

Thank you for that useful info. Cheers, Paxse 18:22, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ieng Thirith (born 1932, Battambang Province)[1] was neither a member of the Khmer Rouge Standing Committee nor of the Central Committee --> A definition that starts with a denial is already a poor logos. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 175.100.60.48 (talk) 14:22, 18 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
