Public Domain?[edit]

Does anyone know why this movie is in the public domain? It's not all that old, as movies go. I thought most modern major motion pictures were copyrighted for decades to come. --Do Not Talk About Feitclub (contributions) 14:33, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pretty sure it has to do with it being a Japanese film...Here, the wikipedia page on public domain films makes a mention of it and links to this article. So Ikiru is in the public domain, but just barely! Hopelessshade 22:13, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Park[edit]

I've just finished watching the Kurosawa collection on Criterion, and was surprised that the park in Ikiru appears to be the same location as in Drunken Angel and Scandal (1950 film). I have searched the internet, but haven't been able to find any confirmation. While they look similar they are constructed sets rather than actual locations. The visual was a recurring theme of AKs and it is also used in The Lower Depths although that looks nothing like the three you mention. MarnetteD|Talk 21:34, 26 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
