POV

[edit]

This article is written an extremely laudatory tone and contains weird gratuitous information (the Review section contains no additional information, for instance.) I'm going to make some edits, but feel free to revert if you substantially disagree. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zhausle (talkcontribs) 22:48, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Kaminsky is deaf, yet writes beautifully in a foreign language (English), and almost sings his work at readings. This information should definitely be included.

Edited to reflect that he hails from the Ukraine, not Russia. Edited categories to reflect that he is both a Ukrainian and Russian poet (Russian language, Ukrainian origin). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.234.43.136 (talk) 00:39, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting edit for current place of employment

[edit]

I would like to request that an editor update this page to update Ilya Kaminsky's current place of employment. Since 2018, he has been a professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where I work as media relations representative in the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts (hence why I am not making the edit myself).

In the section titled "Life" I would propose that where the text currently reads:

He currently teaches at San Diego State University.

... the text should be updated to read:

Kaminsky is a professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology's Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts, where he teaches poetry. Kaminsky previously taught at San Diego State University.

In the "External Links" section, I would propose that the San Diego State University MFA program link be removed (I don't believe it's relevant as he no longer teaches there) and replaced with his current Georgia Tech profile ( https://www.iac.gatech.edu/people/faculty/kaminsky) or the link to the School of Literature, Media, and Communication, the unit of the College where he teaches. That URL is https://lmc.gatech,.edu. Also, I offer that it would be appropriate to add the link to the Poetry@Tech program, which he directs. That link is https://poetry.gatech.edu.

Please pardon any departures from decorum, I am a new Wikipedia talk page user!

Thank you!
