Confusion[edit]

Of the current sources [1] refers to Imale School in Machakos County, and [2] refers to Imale Schools in Makueni County. Meanwhile this refers to Imale Primary School in Kitui County. Goolge maps places Imale Primary School in Kitui County but north of a village called Tiva and well north of where it places Imale Village. This Imale school location is however supported by [3] which refers to Imale (Tiva).----Pontificalibus 09:19, 3 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's in Kitei according to both maps and government documents, so we should say it's in Kitei. This supports the concept there is an additional Imale village somewhere in Makueni county. This supports the fact there's an Imale school in Makueni and this supports the fact there's an Imale school in Kitei, and this supports the village being in Kitei. I updated this too quickly trying to save it at AfD, but it looks like there's multiple Imale villages, but I think GEOLAND also supports the Kitei one at the moment. To add to the confusion, this mentions Imale village near Mwingi, some way north of all the above, but still in Kitui County. Our coverage of Kenyan settlements and districts is poor, but so are online sources.----Pontificalibus 12:47, 3 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I also tagged the coords because I think Google Maps may have the location wrong. Imale is mentioned 46 times in this Kitui County government document, but typically in conjunction with the area around Voo and Kyamatu. So I suspect it's actually located somewhere there, in Kyanwithya - a ward in Kitui West Constituency, which is where the primary school is. ----Pontificalibus 14:08, 3 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Probably the same source as Google Maps. I looked on US Army maps, but it's obviously too small for 1:500,000 maps and the 1:250,000 sheets for that area are missing. Perhaps someone will find some other maps, some from around the 1962 census period would be nice. ----Pontificalibus 17:41, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
