Alphabetical?

I'm pretty sure it's customary to arrange names alphabetically by familay name, and not given name. Isn't there a Wiki rule for this? 65.202.226.2 (talk) 19:30, 25 May 2011 (UTC)mjd

Lack of inclusion criteia, and other issues

A reader VRTS ticket # 2014010410004308 notes problems with this articles. I concur that there are problems. Following is my summary:

  1. The Manual of Style indicates that the article should have explicit inclusion criteria. This article has no inclusion criteria. While social or political philosopher may seem well-defined, and is not problematic in some instances, it is not clear to me where to draw the line. Some guidance is needed.
  2. The distinction between Major figures and others is not defined, and seriously smacks of WP:OR. Without some clear guidance on how to distinguish "major" from others, I suggest this section be removed
  3. Many of those included are obvious but a number are not. On what basis do Bruce Lee and Warren Buffett qualify as philosophers? If clear criteria (point 1) can be developed, it would be possible to determine whether these and others belong.
  4. I note, for example, that Bruce Lee is not in any category associated with philosophers. Is this a failure of the categorization, or consistent with the notion that he should not be in this list?--S Philbrick(Talk) 22:01, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

@Sphilbrick: Yeah, it seems more like an index than a standard item list. Renaming to indicate that it is an index. — Mr. Guye (talk) (contribs)  00:31, 29 August 2017 (UTC)

"To be a philosopher, one must work to attain a coherent view of the theories that the various disciplines accept."

Jesus Christ did this, and so did Tupac Shakur as he is known as a social/political activist, also with http://www.amazon.com/The-White-Book-Makavelli/dp/0595424988. So I suggest both of them be mentioned in this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.4.163.53 (talk) 00:26, 22 December 2014 (UTC)
