Brandee

The spelling is normally brandee. It was often sold loose in corner shops and dispensaries until about the 1970s. Thereafter it was always ready bottled. The recipe varies a good deal. Bell's still sell it, essentially a mixture of rhubarb tincture, capsicum tincture and glycerin, with an alcohol content of 4.9%.[1] I last bought it from a corner shop in the West Midlands in the early 1990s and that was about twice as strong, with a very strong flavour of cardamom. I have no knowledge of pharmacy, so I'd like to see someone with the requisite skills revise this article, rather than make half-hearted, poorly referenced attempt myself. A further check shows that Bell's no longer have it on their product list. However, Loyds Pharmacy seem to have it available on prescription, private or NHS, the former working out much cheaper. Sjwells53 (talk) 20:11, 15 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
