Extraneous information[edit]

I feel that there is excess information in the Culture section about general religion in the UAE. This information is better for Freedom of religion in the United Arab Emirates. Since this article is about Indians in the UAE, and since Christians do not form a sizeable portion of India, I think these two sentences should be removed:

Churches exist in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah. In 1998, the government of Dubai donated land for the construction of a facility to be shared by four Protestant and one Catholic congregations.

Thank you. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 04:11, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't quite agree...Christians do form a minority in India (3%), however, if you look at two of the three largest states with Indian migrants to the UAE, you'll find a sizable Christian population in both Kerala (19%) and Goa (26.7%). Both states also have long traditions in Catholicism. Christ Church in Jebel Ali is generally frequented by Indian migrants, where service is conducted in English as well as Indian languages. More importantly, Christians form the second-largest Indian religious community in the UAE (26%) after Sunni Muslims (56%). Hindus, who form over 85% of India's population, only form 16% of UAE's Indian migrant population. AreJay (talk) 05:40, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting.... I did not know that. But still, the sentences that I noted above do not say anyting about Christian Indians. It would be great if you expanded that paragraph with everything you just told me. I am sure there are a lot of people that do not know much about Indian demographics, let alone Indian demographics within the UAE. Adding the above information would make the paragraph much better and not appear as though you are just adding unrelated information. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 05:34, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I want to add that this is a great article! Your work is very nice; I think it is one of my favorite articles. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 05:35, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, after thinking about it for a while, I think I'd like to move some of those sentences up to the Demographics section. That would effectively allow me to incorporate some of your suggestions. I'll think about how best to structure the section. Thanks AreJay (talk) 17:04, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Relations between India and the UAE[edit]

The last sentence in the introductory paragraph says

"Relations between India and the UAE have traditionally been friendly, though recent incidents relating to the treatment of the Indian migrant labour force by companies in the UAE have been the source of friction between the two nations."

Has the treatment of Indian migrant labour really been a cause for friction between the two nations? From what I read in the news there seems to be no friction. Can someone please cite a reference for that last sentence? VNeogi (talk) 09:59, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Contradictions in figures[edit]

At the beginning of the article it is stated that 40% of the population is indian. Later it says 35% of the population is indian.

Outdated figures[edit]

I propose updating some figures. 81.16.160.45 (talk) 12:43, 20 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
