I am writing regarding the notability and original research tags on the article info-metrics. The article contains a reference section, a further reading section and an external links section, which point to works by multiple authors in academic circles (peer reviewed journal articles and textbooks from academic publishers). I would like to remove these tags if there are no objections. Arnob (talk) 17:38, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This very much seems like a published research paper of original research and not an encyclopedia article. The sources seem meant to support its conclusions and not establish notability. This research would only be notable if it is discussed in independent reliable sources such as a peer reviewed journal or the news. I would encourage you to leave the tags until they are resolved. 331dot (talk) 18:57, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you 331dot. Is the talk page the appropriate location to point to independent reliable sources such as a peer reviewed journal or the news? In terms of notability, I would point out that a textbook on this subject has been published by Oxford University Press https://global.oup.com/academic/product/foundations-of-info-metrics-9780199349524?cc=us&lang=en& Arnob (talk) 01:12, 14 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you are welcome to bring up sources here first before you incorporate them into the article. In that case this article needs to be more about what something like the textbook states (assuming it is independent) about the research and less about the research itself. 331dot (talk) 01:24, 14 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I will refer to the following articles [1] [2] [3] [4], which discusses info-metrics itself (rather than research that uses the Info-Metrics framework). There is also a graduate class on the subject taught at the American University. The class description is reproduced below

Information-Theoretic Modeling and Inference (3) This course deals with the basics of information-theoretic methods of modeling and inference. It lies at the intersection of mathematical modeling, decision making under uncertainty statistical inference, econometrics, and information theory.

The relevant page can be found at the schedule of classes on the American University website [1] Arnob (talk) 03:10, 27 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have not received any feedback regarding the page (I have pinged the mathematics group). If I don't hear any feedback soon, I would like to remove the tags on the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arnob1 (talkcontribs) 16:36, 4 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
