Swiss categories?[edit]

We start out saying she "is a German soprano". She made her debut in Lucerne and stayed in Switzerland till 1951.

That is the last reference to Switzerland, but 1951 was a very long time ago. So, on what basis is she categorised as Swiss, and only Swiss? -- Jack of Oz [your turn] 19:15, 8 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know. I didn't write the article, nor had so far even time to look at categories. Nor to add that she worked in Berlin and Munich at her prime time, and lived in Stuttgart for the longest time. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:33, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicated text[edit]

@Gerda Arendt: You duplicated some text in the paragraph beginning "Borkh portrayed challenging dramatic roles...". I separated into two paragraphs for better comparison. Please look at this. BTW: ref. 11 gives Welitsch's occupation as a "bartender" (Bariton?) :)) Jmar67 (talk) 23:57, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I know that my work after midnight is not my best work, sorry. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:33, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Year of birth[edit]

@Gerda Arendt: The BR obituary seems to say it is indeed 1921: "Übrigens musste sie gelegentlich energisch versichern, tatsächlich 1921 und nicht 1917 geboren zu sein, wie es zeitweise in Lexika nachzuschlagen war." Jmar67 (talk) 00:11, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No conflict, right? We have to state the other also, because some serious other sources, and our own article until yesterday, said so. I will look now if the recordings got miraculously referenced while I slept. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:33, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

DECCA vs. Decca[edit]

@Gerda Arendt: I had dropped DECCA to lowercase in my previous edits but you have restored to uppercase in one spot (but not another). Our articles do not use the all-caps version except to illustrate actual record labels styled "DECCA". The company name is lowercase, and that is what the reference should be to. Jmar67 (talk) 11:25, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I returned to Decca without even seeing this ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:09, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Update[edit]

At the moment, all facts have some reference. Sometimes details such as a date or a colleague may be without. Wishes:

  • Links to opera houses (or towns, if not known)
  • Reviews (some are there, but so far only to reference a recording exists)
  • More historic context
  • More what performed where with whom, instead of only role in opera, period
  • More bio details, she was married twice, had a child

This may be a note to self ;) - but after several hours dedicated to her - remembering Elektra all the time - I'll turn to normal editing and going outside! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:16, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Recording, with review[edit]

I found this which may be interesting enough to add to the article, but have no time right now. I'll add it to Ernst Gutstein, there will be a ref to copy. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:03, 9 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
