Demonstration of inker variety
[edit]I have a dim memory of having seen an image intended to demonstrate the inker's creative potential -- two or three panels, based on the same pencils but inked in widely varying styles. I think that would be a very helpful addition, if it could be found (or if someone would like to create one). Inhumandecency 13:39, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
There is an example of this in Stan Lee's How to draw comics the marvel way. Infact the description of Inkers in this article is very similar to that book, and the three panels you mention are present, showing a correctly inked version, an underworked one (being very flat) and an overworked one being very complex and losing the action.
I also dont dispute the neutrality of this, but the article needs to have some references.

Inking in animation

Terminology
[edit]I'm familiar with the terms finisher and embellisher. The only time I've heard inkers being referred to as tracers was in Kevin Smith's Chasing Amy. Is the term tracer definitely correct or has this page been vandalised? Also, if the term is correct, is it still used? The supporting reference (Bullpen Bulletins) is nearly 35 years old. That word was added in July 2011 by an anonymous IP, who made no edits prior and has made none since. Either it was vandalism, or he/she genuinely thought Clerks was a valid source, which it obviously is not. Clearly the citation that is in that passage supports the other two terms, and not "tracer", so I removed that. Thanks. Nightscream (talk) 20:17, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

Inking visual
[edit]I have started a discussion topic at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Comics concerning an image I'm considering adding to this article. Input would be much appreciated. The topic is "Pencil reproduction".--NukeofEarl (talk) 14:38, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
"Muddled" first paragraph
[edit]I am new wp article creation, so I do not dare to completely redo the paragraph, but this article:
http://www.makingcomics.com/2014/01/16/overview-comic-creation-process/
seems to be so much more clearer.
