BLP[edit]

This section seems like a violation of BLP:

In October 2010, Facing South began an investigative series focused on Art Pope, a leading benefactor of Republicans and conservative causes based in Raleigh, N.C.[1] Facing South's series showed that Art Pope's family foundation supplied roughly 90% of the income of the leading conservative groups in North Carolina.[2] The series also documented Pope's role in North Carolina's politics, including that three groups backed by Pope -- Americans for Prosperity, Civitas Action and Real Jobs NC -- accounted for 75% of the outside money coming into N.C.'s 2010 legislative races.[3] The Institute also collaborated with Independent Weekly on a cover feature about Art Pope for the paper's March 9, 2011 issue.[4]. The Institute for Southern Studies was also heavily cited in a widely-circulated profile of Art Pope written by journalist Jane Mayer for the October 10, 2011 issue of The New Yorker.[5] In October 2011, the Institute launched a special investigative website about Art Pope, ArtPopeExposed.com.[6]

User:Vanthomas seems like a Wikipedia:Single-purpose account and possibly has a Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. ISS is an advocacy group with a clear agenda (no one disputes this, including the organization). The fact that they are running batches of articles to smear Pope because he funds causes that are the opposite of the causes they and their donors fund while using words like "investigative series" does not make this real investigative journalism. It's a smear on Pope to imply that he deserves "investigating" as if he were a quasi-criminal about to be outed. Doesn't belong in WP. I don't see a specific BLP violation. However it's certainly possible that this material could be handled better. This seems too focused on Art Pope, and not enough on ISS. Most of the Pope material belongs in the Pope article. For this article, it's better to simply note that they have published investigations, one of which concerned Pope.   Will Beback  talk  20:36, 10 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
