Wrestling

Shouldn't the National Collegiate Wrestling Association men's division also be mentioned in this article?Jzcrandall (talk) 19:51, 31 January 2010 (UTC)


The article states, "This list is reserved for champions of sports in which the NCAA did not also recognize a champion in a given year. Thus, non-varsity and/or club-level champions are excluded for sports that had a contemporary NCAA champion." An example would be the ACHA for men's ice hickey. The NCAA, which attracts the best college hockey players, crowns a men's ice hockey champion who is universally recognized as the collegiate national champion. 1. The following revision made an uncited deletion to Varsity 8 Men's Rowing:

User changed the 3-way title for "Dartmouth, Navy and Pennsylvania" to just "Dartmouth." However, the reference at "http://www.ecac.com/affiliates/IRA/awards/varsity_challenge" states:

Varsity Challenge Cup

Presented to the IRA by Dr. Louis L. Seaman of Cornell University in 1898, the silver cup is awarded annually to the Varsity Heavyweight Eight Champions. It shows "1992 Dartmouth, Navy and Pennsylvania."

2. Men's rugby claim for 1974 Texas A&M championship is uncited. Needs citation; in particular, to demonstrate national scope of purported title.

Australian Rules Football

The veracity of the claim that recognized national championship events for Australian Rules Football were held in recent years is challenged. It appears that there may have been as few as two or three collegiate teams, which would cast serious doubt on such claims.
